Honduras
The land of Mayan kings and vast biological resources is also home to a fragile economy, massive unemployment and a yawning gap between rich and poor.
Honduras is one of the poorest countries in the Americas. Every morning, this woman catches fish to sell along the road — her only source of income. Mercy Corps and its local partners are bringing innovative long-term solutions to Honduran communities with programs in health, food security, agriculture and water. We’re building classrooms and training rural teachers. And we’re providing medical services to help mothers, children and people living with HIV/AIDS live healthier lives.
