As Liberia tries to move beyond its wartime economic woes, opportunities for subsistence farmers to increase their yields and transition into commercial agriculture offer great potential for families. Cultivating and marketing cowpeas, peanuts and hot peppers offer promising returns.

This paper reviews a previous look at the value chain for cowpeas, and examines the potential for supporting a thriving industry in peanuts and hot peppers as Liberia tries to capitalize on its farming base.
