OVERVIEW

In an instant, life can change for millions of families. Natural disasters can take homes and what little possessions they have. The outbreak of war and threat of violence can drive families from their homes.

When the unthinkable happens, Mercy Corps delivers rapid, lifesaving aid to hard-hit communities.

From the Indian Ocean tsunami to Iran's Bam earthquake to the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, Mercy Corps rushes to the scene to help families.

Norhama, 12, survived the Indian Ocean tsunami. She lost her home and now lives with 16 relatives in Samatiga, Indonesia - but feels fortunate. "Mercy Corps came to our village to clean up the school and village," she said.
