After more than a year of relentless conflict, Sudan is facing a devastating hunger catastrophe on a scale not seen since the early 2000s.

The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification initiative confirmed famine in parts of Sudan’s North Darfur with 755,000 people at risk of starvation in 10 states. Additionally, 8.5 million people are experiencing severe food shortages that could lead to malnutrition and death.

The need for humanitarian assistance — including clean water, food, medicine and other essentials — is increasingly urgent.
