Act now: Urge your Representative to support climate justice

At this very moment, climate change is a devastating force, affecting everyday lives and livelihoods around the globe. Unfortunately, the world’s most vulnerable have the most at stake and are the most at risk.

As the global thermometer rises, we are seeing an increasing number of extreme and unpredictable weather events. Irregular droughts and floods threaten the livelihoods of farmers worldwide. More frequent and extreme storms, like Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas, destroy entire communities.

We must do more. We need urgent action from world leaders to protect people from the dangerous impacts of climate change.

That’s why we’re asking for your help to urge your Representative to support House Resolution 367. This resolution calls on the United States to support climate justice and do more to assist vulnerable communities – both in the United States and abroad – who are on the front lines of climate change.

To address the climate emergency, we need leadership and action now. Urge your Representative to support House Resolution 367.

Dear Member of Congress,

I write to you, as your constituent, I am deeply concerned about the growing climate crisis and the threats that it poses, especially to vulnerable communities around the world. I ask you to cosponsor House Resolution 367 “Recognizing that climate change most severely impacts vulnerable and disadvantaged communities in the United States and around the world, and that it is the responsibility of the United States Government to work with its global partners to promote environmental justice and climate justice.”

The impacts of climate change affect every country on every continent, but the world’s poorest have the most to lose. Three out of four people living in poverty rely on agriculture and natural resources to survive. For these people, the effects of climate change — shifting weather, limited water sources and increased competition for resources — are a real matter of life and death.

House Resolution 367 is an important signal to the global community that the United States is committed to combating climate change. Moreover, this resolution puts the most vulnerable communities front and center, and encourages our government to work with global partners to ensure that people – both at home and abroad – have the tools they need to adapt to climate change.

Temperatures are rising and time is running short. Urgent action and leadership are needed. I urge you to cosponsor House Resolution 367 to ensure that we continue our country’s legacy of protecting the world’s most vulnerable.

Sincerely,
