Senegal's resilience through conflict and climate change

The Russia-Ukraine war has disrupted the imports of grains, petroleum, and fertilizers, threatening Senegal’s food security and economic growth. Many business owners saw their electric bills soar, while farmers relied on generators to power basic electricity needs and pump water to their crops.

With support from Mercy Corps, new solar panels were installed in several farming communities, providing a reliable source of power for small businesses and smallholder farms, helping reduce energy bills, increase food production, and generate more income.
