For communities around the world facing deepening humanitarian crises, 2024 was a devastating year. Now, new emergencies and rising uncertainty are placing millions of people who are already pushed to the brink by crisis in even greater peril.
But no matter how challenging the future seems, we must not lose sight of what’s possible when we take bold action together. I believe we can continue to have a significant impact, because I have seen our teams’ lifesaving work—and the inspiring change we’ve created just in the last year.

Only through the collective action and unshakeable commitment of our global teams, partners, and donors, were we able to make this meaningful impact. Mercy Corps makes the most of every dollar we receive—and we prioritize meeting the very highest standards of efficiency, accountability, and transparency.
Where conflict has forced people to flee their homes, we delivered sheltering supplies, food, and livelihood support. We supported communities in growing their resilience to recurring disasters like flooding and drought—increasing both recovery and preparedness in anticipation of future threats. And we connected people to clean water, nutritious food, new opportunities, and pathways to a more peaceful tomorrow.
These stories of positive impact highlight both our team members and the communities who work every day to improve their lives. For me, they serve as a reminder of the values that bring us together and that each of us is part of shaping the future we share.
Thank you for your steadfast support.
Sincerely,
Tjada D’Oyen McKenna
Responding amid emergencies
As conflict and extreme weather upended communities across the globe, our team responded with supplies and support to help people survive in emergencies. In Nigeria, where historic flooding devasted crops, homes, and critical infrastructure, Mercy Corps quickly responded with cash and food assistance to affected families—crucial to helping them meet immediate their needs.
Violence forced millions of people from their homes and wreaked havoc on livelihoods and communities, and our teams and partners in Gaza, Ukraine, and Sudan delivered relief to those who are surviving day-to-day. In addition to providing food, shelter supplies, and cash assistance so people can meet their immediate needs, we work to support communities recover and reclaim their hopes for the future.
Building lasting resilience
Instability and disaster weaken critical infrastructure, threaten lives and livelihoods, and force millions of people to leave their homes in search of safety and better opportunities. That’s why Mercy Corps partners with communities to innovate and implement long-term solutions and prepare for extreme weather emergencies.
Programs like these, developed alongside communities who face severe challenges, improve access to clean water, nutritious food, and give people an opportunity to safely live their lives. Our partnership and collaboration are what make immediate, reliable, and sustainable progress possible, helping communities across the globe strengthen their long-term resilience.
Our unwavering determination

As crises and hunger continue to escalate, Mercy Corps is focused on taking action in this moment and helping communities prepare for what comes next. In Syria, Haiti, Lebanon, Gaza, and Democratic Republic of Congo, where conflict continues to increase food shortages and threaten livelihoods, our teams are committed to delivering lifesaving aid for affected communities and families who have been forced from their homes.
What’s next is up to all of us. Over the last five years, Mercy Corps has used 86% of our resources to directly fund programs that help people in need around the world. Thanks to the support of our donors, funders, and partners, we have made a meaningful, positive impact on the world in 2024. And it has never been more important.
Together, we can continue to shape what’s possible in the years to come.
